NBC to broadcast live Tour of California coverage • Interbike ranks 70th on list of trade shows • Blumenthal pens Bike Month blog for HuffPost • Bike cop supplier offers customized Kona

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN) Monday May 7 2012 10:05 AM MT—NBC Sports Network will provide live HD coverage of the Amgen Tour of California, which starts May 13.

Coverage included a preview show that ran Sunday and daily highlights that will air on the network each night during the eight-day race. In addition, the network will broadcast live for the last two hours of final stage on Sunday, May 20, starting at 10 a.m. PT. The final stage will re-air on NBC Sports Network at 3:30 p.m. PT.


Interbike ranks 70th on list of trade shows

LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN) Monday May 7 2012 9:10 AM MT—The Interbike Expo ranks 70th on a list compiled by Tarsus Group’s Trade Show News Network of the top 250 trade shows in the United States. The list is based on several factors measuring the size of the event.

According to the ranking, last year Interbike had 720 exhibitors and 13,198 attendees. By comparison, the top ranked show, the construction industry's CONEXPO-CON/AGG, had 2,200 exhibitors and 86,000 attendees.

Interbike owner Nielsen Expositions had the most shows on the list, with 12. Las Vegas was the most popular venue for the top shows, with 55 shows on the list, including the CONEXPO and Interbike; Orlando, Florida, was second with 26 shows last year.


Blumenthal pens Bike Month blog for HuffPost

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Monday May 7 2012 9:18 AM MT—Bikes Belong director Tim Blumenthal has written a blog for the Huffington Post about National Bike Month.

Blumenthal then points out that bicycling in many U.S. cities has more than doubled in the last five years, a growth trend that's being encouraged by new routes and bike rental operations. High gas prices are inspiring many Americans to ride more and more and more national leaders are recognizing the value of bicycle transportation, he said.


Bike cop supplier offers customized Kona patrol bike

JACKSONVILLE, FL (BRAIN) Monday May 7 2012 9:48 AM MT—Safariland, a supplier of law enforcement products, is working with Kona to offer a new customized bike for bike cops.

The Safariland/Kona Patrol Bike 29er is based on the Kona Race Lite 7005 aluminum frame. It's set up with Shimano SLX drivetrain, a rear rack and an optional light and siren system.
