Live Update Guy comes to Red Kite Prayer

Published April 17, 2012

LARAMIE, WY (BRAIN) Tuesday April 17 2012 9:07 AM MT—This season RedKitePrayer.com will be the new home to live race commentary from Charles "Live Update Guy" Pelkey.

Since leaving VeloNews.com last year, Pelkey has continued to do live race updates on his own site, where he set up a virtual tip jar for fans. By embedding his updates on RKP, advertisers will once again be able to support the efforts, Pelkey said.

“I have to say that doing live updates was one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job over the past decade,” Pelkey said. “It got even better when new technologies allowed for almost instantaneous interaction with the audience. Suddenly, I got to see what people wanted to know and I was able to respond.”

“It will be the same content, with guest hosts, like Patrick O’Grady, and occasional visits from riders, other journalists and team staff. It should be a good year.”

To add more horsepower to their ad sales effort, RKP has brought on board Nick Ramey, a veteran of VeloNews, Bicycling and Cyclingnews.

“I’m really pleased to be back on the media side of things,” Ramey says. “Red Kite Prayer is the perfect home for me. It’s a site written by industry veterans who have real integrity and a sense of adventure about what makes for a good read.”
