BRAIN to salute vets in Memorial Day issue

Published March 29, 2012

LAGUNA HILLS, CA (BRAIN) Friday April 27 2012 3:25 PM MT—Bicycle Retailer & Industry News will produce a commemorative Memorial Day issue honoring the industry’s many military veterans.

Industry members—both retailers and suppliers—are invited to send the magazine a photo from their military service along with their name, branch of service, approximate date and location. The photos will be published as part of a special section to be mailed May 24.

“Over the years I’ve met many veterans successfully working in the industry,” said Marc Sani, the magazine’s publisher. “This seems like an appropriate time to recognize their service and their achievements.”

Beth Annon-Lovering, owner of B&L Bike Shop in Davis, California, is a Navy veteran, and few in the industry know that she served on the USS Emory Land, a submarine tender out of Norfolk, Virginia.

“With everything that’s going on right now, especially in Afghanistan, I think it’s more important than ever to try and recognize those who are serving now and those who have done so in the past,” said Annon-Lovering.

The magazine’s effort to recognize the industry’s veterans is a positive reflection of the industry’s members. “And this issue puts a personal touch to it,” she added.

Bicycle Retailer staff will also join a Wounded Warrior ride in Maryland organized by World Team Sports, Revolution Cycles’ Michael Hamannwright and Raleigh America as part of its coverage.

To participate, send a photo to the magazine and include your name, branch and date of service, and location. We will scan the photo and return it promptly by mail.
