New Belgium Brewery awards Bikes Belong $30k grant • NICA honors students, volunteers and supporters • Nineteen Wetsuits moves offices • Northwave continues RadioShack-Nissan-Trek sponsorship

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN) Jan. 19, 8:59 am MT — New Belgium Brewery has awarded a $30,000 two-year grant to the Bikes Belong Foundation to support the foundation's major programs.

New Belgium, based in Fort Collins, Colorado, is a long-time supporter of cycling, and its Fat Tire Amber Ale is a favorite for many riders.

"This grant further strengthens our relationship with New Belgium Brewery, and we are thankful for their support of our efforts to raise cycling awareness across the U.S," said Bruno Maier, vice president of Bikes Belong. "These programs enable us to give cities the resources they need to become more bike friendly and to practice healthier lifestyles."

NICA honors students and volunteers

BERKELEY, CA (BRAIN) Jan. 19, 8:59 am MT —Outstanding participants in Southern California, Northern California, Colorado and Washington high school cycling leagues were honored at the 2011 National Interscholastic Cycling Association Awards, at the Clif Bar headquarters in Emeryville, California, on Saturday.

The National Interscholastic Cycling Association presented awards in 13 categories to 21 individuals.

Northwave continues RadioShack-Nissan-Trek sponsorship

Italian shoe maker Northwave is continuing ts sponsorship of the RadioShack-Nissan-Trek pro team. The team includes podium regulars Andy and Fränk Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Andreas Klöden, Ben King, U.S. road champion Matthew Busche, and Chris Horner.

“Partnerships like this give us a real boost,” said Northwave founder Gianni Piva, “and we will certainly use of this opportunity to work with the riders to develop the best shoes possible, so that they will always be seen on top of the podium.”

For the 2012 season the team will wear Northwave's new Extreme shoes.

The sponsorship also covers the newly launched Leopard Trek development team.
