Handsome Cycles Adds Reps

Published November 17, 2011

Minneapolis, MN (BRAIN)—Handsome Cycles has signed new reps for the Midwest and New England, and is looking to fill openings in other regions as it prepares for growth in the year ahead.

Cody Prudoehl (Minneapolis) and Dan Copeland (Chicago, Illinois) of RP Active Sports will take care of the upper Midwest. Derek Griggs of New Hampshire will cover the New England states.

“After joining us Dan opened our first stores in Chicago and organized a Handsome party at the Chrome Store there,” said Jesse Erickson, who with Ben Morrison founded the Minneapolis-based Handsome Cycles in 2008.

Handsome Cycles is still looking for reps for the Northwest, California, Southwest and Southeast.

“If there are reps that have interest but would like to define their own territory, we are open to discussion. We are looking to fill these positions immediately,” Erickson said.

Currently Handsome has 35 dealers in 14 states, but Erickson expects retailer interest to jump this year.

“We had been selling framesets only. Next year we offer complete bikes for the first time, and conversations with retailers suggest this is going to be popular,” he added.

Handsome pushes as many sales off its website through local dealers as it can, and Erickson said ideally he would like only dealer sales, since he is a bike shop owner himself.

Erickson cut his teeth at his dad’s shop, The Alternative Bike & Board Shop (Altbikeboard), in Minneapolis. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he took the shop over. While he is still involved in the shop, running Handsome is taking up most of his time.
