Swrve Moves into New LA Facility

Published July 27, 2011

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN)—Swrve, an urban cycling apparel manufacturer, has traded downtown LA for northeast LA.

Located in the northeast Los Angeles neighborhood of Glassell Park, Swrve’s new headquarters measure out at over 8,200 square feet—quadruple the size of their previous 10th floor home in the historic Fashion District of downtown LA.

In addition to housing all aspects of operations from design to warehousing, a retail storefront is under construction along with a gallery space to host art exhibitions and other events.

“Please excuse the bad pun but we literally blew out the seams at our old place,” said Swrve general manager Muriel Bartol. “For a company that started out as just two of us, our new building is a dream come true and the enthusiasm is felt by everyone. Taking good care of our workers is a critical component of our company philosophy so it was a lot of fun to see the looks on our sewers’ faces when they saw the size of their new break room.”

Matt Rolletta, lead designer and Swrve co-founder, is most excited about the build out for the storefront and of all things their parking lot.

“Over the last few years we’ve become a bit of a destination for cyclists visiting from out of town and they’re always a little taken aback that we weren’t kidding when we said we’re a tiny company. The retail space will hopefully match their excitement for Swrve and give them a great shopping experience,” Rolletta said.

And about that parking lot, Rolletta added, “The building came with a pretty big parking lot that obviously won’t get too much use the way it was intended so its primary role will be as a party space. We’re a mile-and-a-half from the LA River Bike Path and right in the middle of an awesome bike scene that’s supported us from the very beginning. Now that we’ve got the room we definitely want to start hosting some events and become a new hub for the bike community.”
