DENVER, CO (BRAIN)—Cycling apparel manufacturer Primal Wear has partnered with one of the most successful rides in the world—RAGBRAI, the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa—for a College Spirit Day that will encourage the event's riders to show their school spirit.

For the inaugural event on July 29, Primal collaborated to create custom jerseys for the Universities of Drake, Iowa, Iowa State and Northern. The jerseys will be available online at www.shop.ragbrai.com.

The annual 7-day RAGBRAI takes place July 24-30 and takes cyclist across more than 450 miles from the Missouri River east to the shores of the Mississippi. The route across the "flat" Midwestern state changes each year, and for 2011 features 21,406 feet of climbing.

"Over the last 38 years RAGBRAI has established itself as a great institution in cycling and we jumped at the opportunity to help create this new tradition," said Primal founder and CEO Dave Edwards. "These four Iowa schools have been wonderful to work with and we hope a little college rivalry during the ride will add one more fun element to this one-of-a-kind event."

"For many years, our riders have been showcasing their college spirit while riding through our great state of Iowa and it was our goal to create a special day of fun that we could recognize the nation's colleges and universities," said RAGBRAI director TJ Juskiewicz.
