NEW YORK, NY (BRAIN)—Rodale Inc. has announced that Chris Lambiase has been promoted to SVP, publishing director.
Lambiase will now oversee Rodale’s Sports Marketing & Events group, and will continue to lead all print and digital advertising sales and marketing efforts across Rodale sports titles, which include Runner’s World, Bicycling, Mountain Bike and Running Times magazines. He will report directly to EVP, group publisher Mary Murcko.
“Through Chris’ leadership, the Rodale sports titles have done an excellent job serving clients with total integrated solutions, reaching active, affluent customers through print, digital and event channels,” said Gregg Michaelson, president, integrated marketing & sales and CMO of Rodale.
“His overseeing our events group is a natural fit and will help fuel this growing category of our business even more.”
Under Lambiase’s leadership, ad pages are up through November at the Rodale sports titles, with the November 2010 issue of Runner’s World up 61 percent and Bicycling up 9.5 percent versus 2009. Runner’s World recently launched its first issue on the iPad–exclusively sponsored by Puma with digital and video ads–while the Runner’s World Challenge, presented by Saucony, has been expanded from one to four races. At Bicycling, MetLife returned for a second year to sponsor Bicycling’s “BikeTown USA” program. At both brands, new automotive advertisers and an increase in frequency with endemic advertisers have fueled growth.
Lambiase, who joined Rodale in 2004 as the publisher for Bicycling, was promoted to vice president and publisher in 2006 and served as VP and group publisher, Running and Cycling, since 2008.
