Cycle Star Hires New Retail Manager

Published June 25, 2010

SANTA MARIA, CA—Cycle Star Bicycles, the nation’s first Giant Brand Store (GBS) bicycle retailer, has hired Chris Eldevick as its new retail manager.

Having been in the industry for the last 11 years, Eldevick brings maturity and product knowledge both from the retail and OEM side of the industry, according to a press release. Eldevick started his career in the bike business working in quality control for Specialized, and has since worked for Reynolds Composites and two of the nation’s best bicycle retailers, Guthrie Bicycle and Canyon Bicycles in the Salt Lake City area.

“After visiting Sea Otter this year, my wife and I knew we wanted to make a move to California, and Cycle Star was that opportunity,” Eldevick said. After a six-week series of interviews and a quick visit to Santa Maria and Cycle Star, Eldevick was ready to take on the challenge and made the move. “After talking with Scott [Clark, owner] and seeing how his business and philosophy matched my goals and desires, I couldn’t wait to get started at Cycle Star," he added.

Cycle Star Bicycles has been open for two years, and has experienced the growing pains of a new business starting in a slow economy.

Clark, a 30-year bicycle industry veteran who also owns Mainstreet Cycles in Santa Maria, said, “Cycle Star shows great promise, both as a quality bike shop and business model, but we needed a person capable to take the store to the next level. With his experience and desire to make a difference personally and professionally through bicycles, we feel we now have that guy in Chris Eldevick.”
