MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN)—The Bicycle Leadership Conference is two weeks away, but it’s not too late to sign up and get a room for under $100 a night.
The industry’s biggest names (Trek, Specialized, Shimano, SRAM, CSG, Dorel, Pacific, Giant, Raleigh) are attending BLC in big numbers. Over 30 representatives of these large companies will be present.
So why are over 130 representatives of smaller companies attending? The answers are as different as the companies themselves:
"Think of this as a two-day all things bicycling think-tank. This is the one time we all come together to plan and shape our industry’s future," said IMBA's Jenn Dice.
“I’m attending because of the opportunity to listen to and converse with the leaders of the U.S. bicycle industry all in one convenient location. We’ll be looking at trends on the growing electric bike side of the industry," said Currie Technologies' Larry Pizzi.
“We have the trade shows for buying and immersing ourselves in product details. The BLC is an opportunity to look at the industry’s bigger picture over the next three to five years and where I fit as a retailer," said Chris Koos, of Vitesse Cycle Shop in Normal, IL (and mayor of Normal.)
