Bianchi Outside Warehouse Catches Fire

Published December 16, 2009

TELGATE-BERGAMO, Italy (BRAIN)—Bike manufacturer Bianchi was affected by a serious fire yesterday at its Italian bicycle outside warehouse based in Telgate-Bergamo, Italy.

The warehouse is in another location and the Bianchi factory in Treviglio was not affected.

Bianchi has confirmed no one was injured in the disaster.

Although some important inventory has been lost in the disaster, the fire had absolutely no effect on the significant component inventory. The Bianchi team is continuing to assemble bicycles without any interruption and they are already working with their suppliers to accelerate shipments.

"We have worked hard over the past months to satisfy the extremely strong demand for our new 2010 line", Bianchi CEO Bob Ippolito said. "We are confident that we can recover very fast and we fully rely on our team. The situation is under control."

Salvatore Grimaldi, owner of Bianchi S.p.a, extends its support to the Bianchi team committed to prepare and implement the recovery plan. "Fortunately we had no personal injuries and there is no effect to the historic Bianchi factory," Grimaldi said. "We kindly ask our dealers to have patience and give Bianchi their support as we prepare and implement our recovery plan."
