SUN VALLEY, ID (BRAIN)—Lifeboat Solutions kicks off the three-day inaugural Press Camp today in Sun Valley, Idaho, where 19 industry manufacturers will show their 2010 products to editors from nearly 30 endemic and non-endemic publications.
Lifeboat Solutions’ Lance Camisasca founded Press Camp to make it easier for bike brands to reach a broad audience of journalists during the busy but key mid-summer timeframe.
“Press Camp’s goal is to enable bicycle industry manufactures to efficiently launch their 2010 products in front of some of the best editors in the business and do it in a timely manner,” Camisasca said. “Late June has become the optimal time to preview new products to the press before the fall shows in order to give these products some momentum.”
Manufacturers paid a fee to exhibit—ranging from $7,500 to $15,000—based on their annual sales. Attending companies include Hutchinson, DT Swiss, Blue Competition Cycles, locally based brands Smith Optics and Scott USA and all five of Dorel Industries IBD brands: Cannondale, GT, Mongoose, Schwinn and Sugoi. Pedro’s, Delta 7, BMC, Clif Bar, Gore Ride-On, Lazer Helmets, Saris and Alpine Bike Parks will also be in attendance.
Editors from most of the cycling industry publications will be present, as well as journalists from Wired, Outside, Men’s Journal and the Los Angeles Times. Writers will schedule half-hour blocks of one-on-one time with individual companies in lodge apartments in the mornings, then can test product during mountain, road and downhill rides led by Western Spirit Adventures in the afternoon.
Press Camp runs through Thursday. Check the BRAIN Blog for new product pictures later this week.
