Sherlock Takes Over Australian Trade Site

Published June 29, 2008

MELBOURNE, Australia (BRAIN)—Bicycle Industry News, a trade publishing Web site in Australia, may hit your e-mail box soon. Tom Sherlock is taking over the site effective July 1.

“There is nobody providing information of relevance to members of the industry in both Australia and New Zealand from a wholesaler’s point of view,” he wrote in an e-mail sent to Bicycle Retailer & Industry News.

David Priestly, a familiar face to many in the industry, is stepping down, Sherlock said. Currently, only a single trade publication, is available in the region—Bicycling Trade, a magazine published quarterly by Phil Latz. Latz also formerly produced a trade show for the industry but has refocused his company on the consumer market.

Sherlock, a 30-year veteran, has worked with most of Australia’s major wholesalers and was instrumental in bringing Mongoose to the continent. He also was involved with GT and the Bicycle Authority, but Dorel/Pacific Cycles is now handling distribution of its brand in the region.
