PETALUMA, CA (BRAIN)–CamelBak has expanded its research and development team with the hiring of two industrial designers who will be responsible for all new soft and hard goods product design.

John Duran joins the team as senior product designer, and Derek Sullivan joins as product designer.

“We are thrilled to have both John and Derek join the CamelBak team,” said Jeremy Galten, director of engineering for CamelBak. “Their breadth of experience in design is important to us as we continue to expand our business.”

Duran comes to CamelBak from Jansport, where he was the lead designer on Jansport’s most advanced product line, the ProLine technical alpine pack series. Before Jansport, Duran held a variety of industrial design positions with consulting organizations where he applied his design skills to myriad product categories, including consumer goods, medical devices and furniture. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in industrial design from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Sullivan comes to CamelBak from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in industrial design. His varied artistic background includes fine arts as well as product design. He has coupled his education with multiple student projects and consulting efforts that have resulted in innovative design concepts for the cycling, mountaineering and footwear industries.
