Sponsors Opportunities For Baja Stage Race

Published June 12, 2008

BAJA NORTE, Mexico (BRAIN)—Preparations are underway for the first-ever mountain bike stage race in the mountains and deserts of Baja California.

The four-day 2008 Baja Epic Mountain Bike Stage Race starts Nov. 5 with a stage from Rosarito Beach to the Hacienda at Santa Veronica, and covers more than 300 miles and 24,000 feet of climbing on singletrack and dirt roads.

“The Baja Epic will be a little more fun than most existing stage races,” said Armando Carrasco, president of Too Much Fun Promotions, the race organizer. “Racers and guests will have the opportunity to stay at host hotels every night. We will pick up participants from the San Diego Airport and transport them to the start of the event.

“If a racer wants to handle their own transportation and lodging, we have a discounted entry fee for them too. We’re going to have an exciting race where you can have as much comfort or discomfort as you please.”

Opportunities are available for title, stage and supporting sponsorship packages. Title sponsors will have the opportunity to emblazon its brand with the Baja mountain bike experience, while stage sponsors will get category exclusivity for the event.

This event will attract participants from North of the Border as well as Europe and South America, making it a global opportunity for brand exposure.

“This is an incredible opportunity for European distance enthusiasts. The exchange rate of the dollar, the exotic locale of Mexico, and the warm weather compared to
Europe in November makes this an ideal race for the end of the year,” said celebrity starter Hans “No Way” Rey.

There are two levels of registration for the event: full package and economy. The full package racers will be transported by bus from the San Diego Airport to the start on the Playa Rosarito, and from stage to stage, while economy package entrants will provide their own transportation and lodging at each stage.
