Published June 2, 2008

MONTEREY, CA (BRAIN)—California State Assemblyman John Laird has named Light & Motion as the Small Business of the Year for the 27th Assembly District.

Light & Motion chief executive officer Daniel Emerson was on hand to receive the award on Wednesday, May 28, at the state capitol building in Sacramento.

“As a very successful small business, Light & Motion is showing the way forward in developing sustainable business practices while also maintaining a commitment to our community,” said Assembly member Laird. “I am especially proud to name Light & Motion as Small Business of the Year because of their stellar assistance during the 2007 San Francisco oil spill and their receipt of the state’s Waste Reduction Award for the last three years in a row.”

“I’d like to personally thank Assembly member Laird for this honor,” added Emerson. “We’re proud of Light & Motion’s environmental achievements. It is our hope that these decisions for sustainability will have a positive and lasting affect in our community and encourage other companies to take action.”
