LONDON, England (BRAIN)—Future Publishing has named a new managing editor for the UK-based Web site cyclingnews.com.

Daniel Benson joins Future from NatMag Rodale, where he was managing editor of the Runner’s World Web site.

Benson, an avid rider, has covered major races like the Tour de France for publications including Cycling Weekly, Cycling Sport and the Bikemagic.com Web site. Benson also had a stint as a sports reporter for the Daily Telegraph’s Web site.

“Editing the world’s leading cycling Web site was too good an opportunity to miss, bringing together my passion for cycling and my background in Web journalism,” Benson said. “I’m looking forward to working with this incredibly experienced team, building on the success of the site, developing its excellent reputation in the industry and working with a loyal, growing audience.”

Cyclingnews.com was launched in 1995 and acquired by Future in July 2007. The site provides results and commentary, covering road, mountain, track, cross and BMX racing.

Benson will report to group publisher, Richard Schofield, and will lead the international team of Cyclingnews staff and contributors. He will work closely with BikeRadar’s Tony Farrelly and Jeff Jones to coordinate race coverage across Future’s online cycling sites.

“The knowledge and experience Daniel brings will be a great boost to the team of dedicated enthusiasts who run the Cyclingnews reporting operation around the globe. His role in coordinating and developing Cyclingnews and working with BikeRadar are crucial to further develop our sector-leading site,” Schofield said.
