Chumba Racing Increases Legal Staff

Published April 13, 2008

ANAHEIM, CA (BRAIN)—Chumba Racing has expanded its legal staff to include Erika Brenner, a former paralegal at an intellectual property law firm.

Brenner will be working with the company’s general counsel, Alan Kang, to assist in patent and trademark filings, disputes, and any other legal matters.

Chumba Racing recently formalized a legal advisory board, retaining Craig Aronson, an intellectual property litigator with more than 20 years of experience and other partners at the law firm of Berger Kahn.

“The amount of unnecessary litigation in the bicycle industry is ridiculous; it passes on costs to consumers, hinders innovation and makes an otherwise amicable industry difficult to operate in,” said Kang, who’s also Chumba’s chief executive officer.

“This new structure we are implementing in our organization will give us the ability to handle legal matters at minimal cost and conduct extensive legal research while maintaining the counsel and assistance of seasoned attorneys most bicycle companies our size cannot afford.”

Richard Grieves, a former senior attorney at Northrup Grumman will be acting as Kang’s personal advisor on all business matters.
