SF Chronicle Study: Bikes Blamed Over Cars

Published March 24, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BRAIN)—The last thing bicyclists want to hear is that they're at fault more than drivers, but that's exactly the conclusion the San Francisco Chronicle came to in a recent study.

The Chronicle's recent study was most likely spurred by the deaths of two cyclists two weeks ago by a Santa Clara sheriff's deputy's cruiser.

"There is a juggernaut out there—the tension between the cyclists and the drivers is so high that it's become a war," said triathlon coach Marc Evans to The Chronicle, who is starting a campaign to get the cycling community, drivers and motorcyclists to put more focus on avoiding deadly collisions on the roads.
