PORTLAND, OR (BRAIN)–When a handful of cyclists left Portland, Oregon bound for Salt Lake City, Utah in July 2007, Hybrid.Pedal took on a life of its own.
The 900-mile cycling event generated plenty of media coverage along the way, thanks in part to filmmaker Dan Austin who documented every mile, generating tremendous visibility for conservation groups and activists working to protect wild places.
A three-minute trailer on Hybrid.Pedal is available at www.keenfootwear.com/hybrid_pedal.aspx. The final full-length film will be posted online sometime this month.
The goal of Hybrid.Pedal was to generate awareness and visibility for The Conservation Alliance and its grantees.
“We had hordes of people turn out at each stop along the way to show their support,” said Erika Bruhn, marketing manager for Keen. “It was gratifying to have the event be so well-received in town after town, and to know that our efforts to help save our wild lands are paying off.”
