(BRAIN) — Zipp's 404 S wheels are price-point carbon road wheels that build on their predecessor model, the 303 S.
"With a laser focus on paved performance, the 404 S offers advantages over the 303 S in every meaningful way — aerodynamics, hub performance, aesthetics, and price," the company said.
The wheels use the Zipp 76/176 hubset, providing 36 points of engagement. They have 20 spokes front and 24 in front, laced in a 2-cross configuration with Sapim CX-Sprint spokes. The rims have an inner width of 23mm and a 50mm rim depth. The mid-depth rim profile borrows shaping from Zipp's Firecrest rim.
Zipp said the rim design saves about 2 watts over the 303 S. The wheels are available with white or dark gray logo decals.
MSRP is $630 for the front wheel, $670 for the rear.
