Jamis releases new Defcon full-suspension e-MTB models

Published April 29, 2026
NORTHVALE, N.J. (BRAIN) — Jamis is now shipping its new 150mm-travel Defcon e-MTB models. The two Defcon models feature 6061 triple-butted aluminum alloy frames and MPX Horst-link suspension platform, marking a shift from the single-pivot layouts Jamis has used in the past.

Both models feature Shimano mid-drive power units.

Defcon E1 ($7,499 MSRP) is equipped with Shimano's EP801 system with EN806 630Wh removable battery delivering 250W continuous rated power, 600W peak power, and 85Nm maximum torque. The E1 comes in a “Galactic” color, Shimano XT drivetrain, Fox performance-series suspension and TRP DH-R brakes.

Defcon E2 ($5,999 MSRP) features a Shimano EP600 drive unit with the same EN806 630Wh battery delivering 250W continuous power, 500W peak power, and 85Nm maximum torque. The E2 model has a Deore 12-speed drivetrain, SR Suntour suspension, and TRP Slate EVO brakes.

The Defcon downtubes have integrated battery doors in the downtubes for easy access for maintenance and charging/storing of batteries. An integrated charging port on the seat tube also allows for charging convenience without removing the battery. The frames have an alloy skid plate that protects the motor from impacts and debris, while cutouts provide ventilation to help manage motor temperature.

“E-MTB technology is evolving rapidly, and we’re excited to launch our Defcon models just in time for the spring 2026 season,” said Sal Crochiola, Jamis' senior product manager. “E-MTBs bring more riders, more miles, and more trails within reach — changing how far and how long we can ride together.”

Defcons are available in four sizes ranging from 15-inch to 21-inch. All sizes of both models are currently available in limited quantity.
