ProLids offering customizable kids' helmets

Published May 25, 2023

TULSA, Okla. (BRAIN) — ProLids is a new company offering customizable helmets for kids who ride bikes, scooters, and skateboards.

The helmets have a hat-like appearance, featuring a patent-pending design that incorporates three styles of brims that can be worn forward or backward, or removed completely. ProLids feature an adjustable fit to maximize comfort and security.

The company was started by Brett Baker, who said he experienced the repercussions of a childhood head injury.

"My main goal in starting ProLids is to help prevent today's kids from having to go through the same experience," Baker said. "To do that, we had to design a helmet that was safe and that looked cool enough for kids to want to wear it."

ProLids has passed the Consumer Product Safety Commission standard for children's bicycle helmets for ages 8 and over. They are available through ProLids.com, bicycle retailers and distributors, and major mainstream retailers.

The helmets also will be made available to charitable organizations promoting safe cycling for kids, starting with Bike Club Tulsa in Oklahoma. The Bike Club program provides bikes and safety education to hundreds of kids each year in the area.
