Woom releases its first kids' e-bike, with Fazua motor

Published June 2, 2021

AUSTIN, Texas (BRAIN) — Woom's first e-bike for kids in the United States, called the woom UP, features a Fazua drive system, SRAM NX drivetrain, air suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes, and woom's aluminum frame. The company said it's the only kids' e-bike that features the Fazua motor, which makes it among the lightest mid-drive e-bikes built for children.

Recommended for kids who already have experience riding bikes, the woom UP enables young riders to go farther and bike more frequently and expanding their riding opportunities, from technical singletrack trails to casual family adventures, both on- and off-road. The 250-watt drive system enables pedal-assist in three customizable settings, up to 12 mph. Riders can download the Fazua Rider app, which gives the flexibility to fine-tune the power modes, monitor the motor's data (power output, remaining range, etc.), and record all the stats during a ride, including distance, speed, and elevation. The compact and lightweight combined motor and battery unit can also be easily removed for the option to ride without pedal assist.

"We found that kids looking to experience the benefits of pedal-assist biking were often riding small-sized adult electric mountain bikes, which are heavy and not built with kids in mind," said Mathias Ihlenfeld, the CEO of woom bikes USA. "Now, they have a kid-specific option that is roughly 30% lighter, providing a substantially better riding experience."

Like all woom bikes, the woom UP has child-friendly diameter grips, brake levers suitable for small hands, and shorter cranks than adult bikes.

"Kids are falling in love with bikes across the country, and now these little shredders want to ride farther and for longer periods of time on their woom," said Ihlenfeld. "After years of design, we've created what we believe is absolutely the greatest kids' e-bike in the world, further enabling the love (and thrill) of biking for fun and sport, as well as encouraging the idea of human-powered transportation at a young age."

The woom UP is offered in two sizes:

● woom UP 5 features 24-inch tires, and fits kids approximately 7 to 11 years old (50'' – 57" in height). MSRP $3,599.

● woom UP 6 features 26-inch tires, made for kids approximately 10 to 14 years old (55" – 65" in height). MSRP $3,749.
