IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Shimano announced 15 redesigned shoes on Friday, with updates to its entry-level road and mountain bike lines, its flagship gravel race shoe, and its Mountain Enduro lineup.
In typical Shimano fashion, the company trickled down some technologies from its high-end S-PHYRE models to lower price points. It also added more women's models and sizes.
On the road side, the new RC3 and RC3W road cycling shoes will retail for $120 and offer a seamless midsole (integrated sole and upper construction) that elevates comfort and lowers stack height for improved stability and power transfer. The RC3 and RC3W shoes use Shimano's one-piece "surround wrap" composite upper and a BOA L6 closure system.
The RC3 is available in men's sizes 40-48 and three colors. The RC3W is available in women's sizes 36-44 in the three colors.
The updated RC1 and RC1W road shoes retail at $90 and use Shimano's Surround upper design and a three-strap Velcro closure system. The RC1 comes in men's sizes 40-48 in three colors and the RC1W comes in women's sizes 36-44 in two colors.
For triathletes, the new TR5 and TR5W shoes, retailing for $140, offer tri-specific features including a wide opening for quick access and improved ventilation. The shoes also feature a soft, smooth liner that boosts comfort when wearing the shoes without socks.
The TR5 comes in men's sizes 40-48 and one color. The TR5W comes in women's sizes 36-44 in one color.
Shimano also is offering a new color in its RX8 gravel race shoes. The "Cactus Berry" colorway was inspired by the Southwestern landscape. The new color scheme is the third color option for the RX8 lineup and will be available starting in September.
In addition to announcing new footwear options for road, triathlon, and gravel athletes, Shimano also introduced a new selection of mountain bike shoes including entry-level XC3 and XC1 shoes and the ME7 and ME5 Mountain Enduro shoes.
The 2021 model year line up also includes the new SD501 SPD sandals.
