Soma gets into race tire market with new Crit King model

Published December 11, 2019

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Soma, which bills itself as the brand of the everyday cyclist, is going a new direction with its new Crit King road clincher, which is intended as a race-only tire.

The Crit King has a translucent gum tread compound to maximize cornering grip and for low rolling resistance in the straightaways. It also has a high TPI casing and anti-puncture belt. It weighs 200 grams in a 700x25 size. It's also available in 700x28. The tire is made in Japan.

"Unlike our other tire designs, this one should be treated as a 'race day' tire, not as a 'daily ride' tire," the company said.
