Lazer debuts new G1 road helmet at World Road Championships

Published October 1, 2019

ANTWERP, Belgium (BRAIN) — For the 2020 model year, Lazer has introduced what the Shimano-owned brand says is its lightest and most advanced road helmet to date: the G1.

The G1 utilizes the company's most advanced ventilation and fit features and tips the scales at 189 grams. (This helmet will be sold as the Genesis outside of the USA and Canadian markets.)

"The Lazer G1 delivers featherweight and aerodynamic performance for a variety of cycling disciplines including road, mountain, gravel and beyond. The G1 features the superlight version of Lazer's patented Advanced Rollsys System, securing an easy 360° adjustment. Together with the Adjustable Head Basket, it secures a perfect and comfortable fit," the company said.

Lazer includes Race and Comfort padding sets for riders who want to shave grams or increase comfort.

Lazer's Aeroshell is available as an option for the G1 to transform it into a more aerodynamic yet still lightweight helmet. During colder rides, the Aeroshell can be used as a cover that will protect riders from the elements and maintain warmth.

It comes in three sizes and MIPS and non-MIPS versions. Retail: $219.99 (non-MIPS); $239.99 (MIPS).

The Lazer G1 was used by some national team riders during the UCI World Road Championship in Yorkshire, United Kingdom, last weekend. For racing season 2020 the G1 will be used by teams such as Jumbo Visma and Team Sunweb.
