Newbaum's offers padded cotton cloth bar tape

Published May 15, 2019

SAN FRANCISCO (BRAIN) — Newbaum's, which offers American-made traditional cotton handlebar tape created with eco-friendly dyes, has launched a new product aimed at the gravel and touring market.

The new Cushioned Cotton Tape has a more conventional width of 1 ¼-inch compared to the traditional ¾ inch of other Newbaum's tape. It is backed by a 1/8-inch layer of neoprene that the comapny said is excellent at dampening both high and low frequency vibrations.

"One of its many advantages is its incredible durability," the company said. "Whereas traditional tape can be ripped beyond repair after a single spill, this cotton tape will last for years, taking hit after hit.

The Cushioned Tape will eventually come in 23 colors just like the traditional unpadded tape.

MSRP is $29.99 USD (for two rolls); Available from Southern Distributors in the UK, Notion World in France, BTI and Merry in the USA.
