Saris unveils new take on favorite: The Bones EX now fits 20% more vehicles

Published May 2, 2019

MADISON, Wisc. (BRAIN) – When Saris released the Bones trunk rack in the 1990s, it soon became a best-seller.

Saris has taken its most popular rack and improved it to fit 89 percent of the top 50 vehicles sold in the U.S.

Designed with Fabio Pedrini, the same Italian designer who crafted the original, the Bones EX features a unique leg. The enhancement avoids contact with plastic spoilers found on many of the best-selling cars in the U.S., yielding a trunk rack that fits 20 percent more vehicles than its predecessor. The Bones EX also features bike hold downs that are easy to use and quick to load, as well as integrated strap management for a sleek look.

"Our rack fits are backed up by hundreds of physical fit testing hours out in the field," said Jesse Bartholomew, director of Saris consumer products. "Our engineers are the first to see new car designs and the impact they have on trunk rack fits. With spoilers and plastic bumpers being so popular, we knew customers would need a solution so we got to work on the Bones EX right away and couldn't be happier with the result. The Bones EX continues the legacy with the best-fitting trunk rack available."

The same signature Bones characteristics are found in the Bones EX, with the most notable being the strong and rust-free injection-molded arms and legs. Weighing 11 pounds, the Bones EX is capable of transporting three bikes up to 35 pounds each. The Bones EX is made in the U.S. with materials sourced from America's heartland and is backed with a lifetime warranty.
