CHICO, Calif. (BRAIN) — Paul Component Engineering is now offering its Boxcar aluminum stem in a size to fit 35 millimeter handlebars. The stem is initially available only in a 35mm length, as well. A 50mm version will be available soon.
Like its other Boxcar stems, the 35x35 model is made with American 2024 alloy, which the company said offers "extremely high strength and fatigue resistance, allowing us to machine the stem walls extra thin from the outside and inside without sacrificing durability."
The company also said the stem's rounded-box shape tested 25 percent stiffer than the competition and the faceplate has massive handlebar gripping surface area from edge to edge, eliminating slippage and handlebar stress points.
"We use over 20 different end mills, drills, saws and taps to make one stem, machining to .002" tolerance (that's really tight for a stem)," the company said.
It's available in High Polish or anodized in Black, Silver or Purple. Besides the 35x35, the Boxcar stem is available in a 31.8mm clamp in 35, 50, 70, 90, and 110 lengths.
Weight is 118-203 grams depending on length and MSRP is $123-$149 depending on length.
