Trek opts out of Eurobike to host own show

WATERLOO, WI (BRAIN) Jan 31, 11:00 MT— Trek Bicycle said Tuesday that it will pull out of the Eurobike trade show this year in lieu of hosting its own retailer-focused Trek World Europe in mid-July in Frankfurt, Germany.

The July 16 to 20 event will showcase 2013 product from Trek, Bontrager, Villiger and Diamant, present a full schedule of business seminars, and wrap with a public day on July 21, the first time Trek has opened one of its shows to consumers.

Trek held its first European retailer gathering last year in Mayrhofen, Austria. It has long held a U.S. version at company headquarters in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

“Our first priority is the success of the retailer and we’ve found that an annual Trek World meeting combining product introductions with retailer-focused business seminars is a recipe for retailer success,” said Trek president John Burke in a press release. “North American retailers have long reaped the benefits of Trek World’s networking and seminar-filled schedule and the time has come to offer that opportunity for our European markets.”

Trek will not be exhibiting at Eurobike, Europe’s largest trade show, which is scheduled for Aug. 29-Sept.1 in Friedrichshafen, Germany. In North America, Trek hasn't exhibited at Interbike’s indoor show since 2004, but has maintained a presence at Outdoor Demo.

European Trek retailers will be contacted in the coming weeks by their country’s managing offices regarding further details of attendance for Trek World Europe.
