Helen of Troy Q3 net sales decrease 1.6%, despite Home & Outdoor group's growth

EL PASO, Texas (BRAIN) — Helen of Troy third-quarter net sales declined 1.6% year-over-year, despite the Home & Outdoor group's sales increasing 3.1%.

Including brands Osprey and Hydro Flask, the Home & Outdoor group's net sales were $235.9 million compared with $228.9 million at the same time last year. This offset a 4.9% drop in net sales ($313.7 million) for the Beauty & Wellness group.

Overall company net sales for the quarter ending Nov. 30 were $549.6 million, compared with $558.6 million at the same time last year.

"I am pleased to report third-quarter consolidated net sales and adjusted EPS that were slightly better than our expectation," said Noel M. Geoffroy, current chief operating officer and incoming CEO.

Current CEO Julien R. Mininberg will retire on March 1.

Net income for the quarter was $75.8 million, increasing 46.4% from the $51.8 million reported last year. Earnings per share was $3.19, compared with $2.15 at the same time last year.
