GOUDHURST, England (BRAIN) — Whyte Bikes acquired Quench Cycles after the retailer shut down over the holidays following 18 years in business.

In a Facebook post March 14, Quench Cycles owners David and Emma Cole wrote that the retail team will remain in place at their two stores in Bedgebury and Flimwell. The shop has carried Whyte Cycles, along with Raleigh, Diamondback, Haibike, Transition, and DMR Bikes.

"David and Emma have built the Quench business with a superb reputation for quality and service," according to a Whyte Bikes Facebook post. "We believe passionately in the great work the team at Bedgebury have done to bring the joy of bike riding to the local community, and we are excited to be picking up the baton for the next stage of the company's journey."

Quench Cycles closed its two locations Dec. 21, citing supply chain issues, rising costs, uncertainty over lease renewal, and other on-site operational challenges. Whyte Bikes has been manufacturing bikes for more than 22 years and is based in Hastings, England.
