Orbea licenses part of its shock integration technology to Canyon

Published December 21, 2021

BILBAO, Spain (BRAIN) — Canyon will partially license Orbea's patented rear-shock lockout cable routing technology. Orbea's patent for the "Inside Line" covers improvements to the lockout routing, enhancing aesthetics and providing a more direct path between the shock and remote lever.

It also increases the integration of the shock in the frame without limiting access to the controls.

The license will allow Canyon to access certain aspects of I-line's design characteristics, including reducing friction, protecting the cable from dirt, and freeing up more space in the front triangle.

Orbea said it will donate proceeds from the licensing agreement to trail projects. Orbea said that this will allow it to continue to expand support for trail building.

Orbea's European and American patents are EP3587234 and US11077913, respectively.
