ANOKA, Minn. (BRAIN) — Vista Outdoor's Action Sports division, which includes the bike accessory brands Giro, Bell and Blackburn, saw a 26% increase in revenues in the most recent quarter. The division's sales were $92.1 million, up from $72.9 million in the same period last year.
Vista Outdoor's Outdoor Recreation division contains another brand of interest to the bike industry: CamelBak. That division saw a 49% sales increase, from $72 million in the period last year to $107 million this year. Besides CamelBak, the Outdoor Recreation division includes the Camp Chef outdoor cooking brand and Bushnell golf products.
Company-wide, Vista Outdoor had a record quarter, with sales up 38% to $663 million. Gross profit company-wide rose 93% to $241 million.
Results are for the three-month period that ended June 27, 2021, the first quarter of the company's fiscal 2022.
In January the company completed the purchase of QuietKat, a Colorado-based e-bike brand, which joins Bell and Giro in the Action Sports reporting segment. QuietKat revenues and expenses were included in the first quarter's financials.
Vista Outdoor forecasts second-quarter sales in a range of $710 million to $730 million, compared with $575 million in the prior-year quarter. It forecast earnings per share in a range of $1.70 to $1.80, compared with $1.10 of adjusted EPS in the prior-year quarter.
