MOAB, Utah (BRAIN) — After some considering, organizers of the Outerbike demos have decided to stick with their October dates for an event in Moab, even though the dates conflict with the re-secheduled Sea Otter Festival.
"We've held Outerbike in Moab on the first weekend in October for over 10 years and it's historically one of the nicest times to be in town," said Mark Sevenoff, co-owner of Outerbike and Western Spirit. "Virtually all of our exhibitors said their demo fleets are confirmed for Moab for that weekend, and they are the backbone our events.
"Sea Otter is an amazing event and we realize and respect that this was an incredibly tough decision for them. We wish them nothing but the best for their rescheduled event," he added.
Sevenoff said Outerbike has a distinct format from Sea Otter, with an emphasis on bike demos. Major participants have said they can still have a presence at both events with two demo fleets or by having an expo tent at Sea Otter and a demo at Outerbike.
"We believe we meet different needs. So just this once we can co-exist," he said.
There will be seven Outerbike events this year. The first one of the season is in Deer Valley, Utah, June 19-21. Sevenoff said the company is monitoring the COVID-19 situation, but for now that event will go off as scheduled.
