KHS Bicycles resumes some shipments after system hack

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ, Calif. (BRAIN) — KHS Bicycles has resumed some shipments following an IT system hack over the weekend.

"We are making progress and have begun to ship orders," KHS' vice president, Wayne D. Gray, told BRAIN Tuesday afternoon. "Our B2B site is back up and we are shipping from California today," he said. He said the company would resume shipping from its Kentucky distribution center on Wednesday.

The California-based distributor was unable to accept or ship dealer orders Monday and early Tuesday.

The company was able to restore its email systems Tuesday and is working with security specialists to restore other systems as soon as possible.

"It appears to be an out-of-country ransomware situation," said Brian Hemsworth, a spokesman. He said financial data from KHS and its customers is encrypted, so the company is not concerned about that data being exposed.

"Their concern is with getting their systems and operations up and running again," said Hemsworth.
