KOBLENZ, Germany (BRAIN) — Canyon Bicycles was hit by a criminal cyber attack just before the start of the year, the company announced Monday. While the company was locked out of its IT systems at its Germany headquarters, its e-commerce website and U.S office's IT system was not affected.

"The attack shows massive criminal intent," said Roman Arnold, Canyon's founder and CEO. He said the company's work and business processes were "temporarily massively affected." Canyon's international offices also were affected, with the exception of its U.S. office, which has its own IT system.

"We are making every effort to keep the impact on our customers and fans as low as possible and to get back to normal operations as quickly as possible," Arnold said in a statement.

The company has notified law enforcement authorities in Germany, who are investigating.
