Mirra BMX brand for sale or license

Published April 16, 2019

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — MirraCo, the BMX brand founded by Dave Mirra, is for sale or license. Mirra founded the brand in 2006 with partner Jim Ford. It has been licensed in the past to Trek Bicycle, BMX International Australia and Dynacraft. Currently, Haro holds a nonexclusive license that expires in November.

Mirra died in 2016.

The brand is being marketed by Hilco Streambank, an intellectual property broker that was involved with the sale of the Advanced Sports Enterprise IP assets and other similar sales in the bike market in recent years.

The sale or license includes trademarks that are registered in the U.S., China, EU, Australia, Japan and Brazil. It also includes the domains Mirrabikes.com and Mirrabikeco.com, and the brand's Facebook page.

"A buyer or licensee has the opportunity to build upon the Mirra brand recognition and capitalize on the resurgence of the BMX market by positioning it for growth and investing in expansion into other BMX categories including racing, other bike categories, parts and accessories, other action sports related products and new distribution channels," Hilco Streambank said in marketing materials. "The brand's co-founder, leveraging more than 30 years of experience, is uniquely positioned, if needed, to transition the brand to a buyer's infrastructure."

Offers for the brand are due May 2 and an auction will be held May 6 of necessary.
