Registration opens today for the June 25–27 event, as the new SBT DBL BLK Challenge invites endurance athletes to take on trail running and gravel cycling in one ultimate multi-sport weekend.
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (October 14, 2026) – SBT GRVL® presented by Wahoo, a global endurance and lifestyle event bringing together gravel cycling, trail running and mountain-town culture, announced that registration for random selection is open through October 31 for its June 25–27, 2027 event. The weekend will welcome an expanded field of 3,000 riders, bring back age-group podiums on the Red and Blue courses and introduce a new 20K trail run race and SBT DBL BLK two-day run-bike challenge.
Following the success of the 2026 event, Routt County commissioners unanimously approved the increased rider capacity and age-group competition for 2027. Alongside the growing SBT TRL run race lineup, these additions give athletes more ways to compete on Steamboat's signature "champagne gravel" roads and Emerald Mountain trails.
"Last year showed what we can accomplish together with our community, and we're grateful for Routt County's support as we look ahead to 2027," said Amy Charity, founding partner and CEO of SBT GRVL®. "We want people to come for a great race and stay for everything that makes Steamboat special. Whether you're chasing a podium, taking on both the run and ride, or bringing your family to enjoy our festival and a weekend in the mountains, we want everyone to feel part of SBT GRVL®."
SBT TRL Adds a 20K Race on Emerald Mountain
On Saturday, June 26, SBT TRL will bring trail runners and hikers to the Emerald Mountain trail system for a new 20K trail race, a 12K race and a family-friendly 5K run and walk. Starting at 8 a.m. at Howelsen Hill, participants will follow singletrack trails through aspen groves with views overlooking Steamboat Springs.
The new SBT DBL BLK Challenge pairs Saturday's 20K Black Course run with Sunday's 108-mile SBT GRVL® Black Course bike race. Professional trail runner and gravel racer Hillary Allen will take on both, with a special prize recognizing the top male and female competitors across the two events.
"When I heard about the DBL BLK Challenge, my first thought was, 'This was made for me,'" said Hillary Allen. "I love exploring and competing on foot and on the bike, and this brings those two passions together in one weekend in one of my favorite mountain towns. I'm really excited to race Steamboat's singletrack and gravel roads and challenge myself in both on back-to-back days."
Four Signature Gravel Courses, Age-Group Podiums Return
Sunday, June 27, will feature four course distances through Routt County: Black (108 miles), Blue (73 miles), Red (53 miles) and Green (25 miles). Age-group podiums return to the Blue and Red courses, joining those on the Black course to recognize amateur athletes across three distances. Explore the 2027 courses here.
GRVL® Femmes New Prize and Coaching
Founded in 2025 to create a welcoming, empowering environment for amateur female cyclists, GRVL® Femmes returns for its third year in 2027. In the spirit of Zwift Watch the Femmes, Zwift will introduce a new prize: one randomly selected GRVL® Femmes team will receive a travel stipend and trip to L'Étape to ride the Tour de France Femmes course and watch the race.
Also new for 2027, in partnership with Schwalbe, accomplished professional cyclist Serena Bishop Gordon will provide a free coaching plan for all GRVL® Femmes participants, lead a group ride on Zwift ahead of the event and guide a pace group at SBT GRVL®.
Teams of three or more women can compete in the Team Race Category on the Black, Red and Blue courses, where the three fastest teams on each course earn cash prizes and a champagne podium celebration. Teams can also join the non-competitive Team Unity Category on the Green, Red or Blue courses for a chance to win an overall team prize. Learn more and register at sbtgrvl.com/grvl-femmes
