The bicycle industry now has a data platform of its own. PeopleForBikes, the national trade and advocacy organization representing the U.S. bicycle industry, announced the launch of the PeopleForBikes Data Suite, a new industry-owned market intelligence platform designed to give bicycle businesses a clearer picture of what’s selling, where the market is moving, and what’s coming next.
The Data Suite brings together sales and inventory data from across the bicycle industry to provide timely visibility into sell-through, category performance, pricing, forecasting, and market risk.
“Our board decided the single best thing we could do to improve the business health of the bike industry was to dramatically improve our industry data and bring us up to the standards of other industries. For years, the data we’ve relied on has been incomplete, outdated, and simply hasn’t moved at the speed of business,” said Jenn Dice, president and CEO of PeopleForBikes.
“The Data Suite gives us a much clearer view of what’s selling and where the market is moving, so businesses can better manage inventory, plan investments, and respond faster. For the first time, we can build a shared understanding of our market and use it to make the entire industry more responsive, resilient, and competitive. Just imagine if we’d had this information a few years ago. How much healthier might our industry be today?”
PeopleForBikes is continually expanding the Data Suite to better represent the breadth of the U.S. bicycle market, adding data from businesses across different regions and market sizes while reducing the time between when market activity happens and when businesses can act on it.
“As retailers, we have a strong sense of what our customers are asking for, but it can be difficult to know whether what we’re seeing in our shop reflects a broader trend, ” said David Conte, COO and Co-owner, Conte's Bike Shop.
“The Data Suite allows us to validate those instincts and have more informed conversations with our brand partners about the products our customers want and the inventory we need to support them.”
The Data Suite will fully launch in early 2027. Bicycle businesses can get a first look at the platform and explore 2027 pricing now at datasuite.peopleforbikes.org.
