Tymewear’s VitalPro chest strap accurately identifies Ventilatory Thresholds (VT1 & VT2) in real time on Wahoo ELEMNT Computers turning breathing from an invisible metric into an actionable training tool.

Boston, MA (Tuesday, 2nd June 2026) – Tymewear, the performance technology brand redefining endurance training through breathing intelligence, today announces a major new integration with Wahoo's ELEMNT bike computers.

The integration marks a major next step for Tymewear as it brings its groundbreaking respiratory performance technology directly into one of the world's leading cycling and fitness platforms allowing riders to access real-time breathing insights, ventilatory threshold data and personalised training guidance live on the road.

Already trusted by elite endurance athletes and coaches such as Team Visma | Lease a Bike, Tymewear's VitalPro chest strap brings performance-lab precision into everyday training. The sensor measures breathing with up to 97% accuracy compared to laboratory testing, identifying an athlete's ventilatory thresholds (VT1 and VT2) without the need for expensive lab visits.

Through the Tymewear app and an in-depth performance dashboard, athletes and coaches can access deep physiological insights including breathing rate, ventilation and threshold-based training zones, helping them train with greater precision, optimise recovery and better understand how their body responds to training load.

Through the native Wahoo integration, insights become instantly actionable in real time. Riders can see exactly when they cross key ventilatory thresholds directly on their handlebars, unlocking a new era of breathing-led performance training. The partnership represents a major shift away from traditional 'one-size-fits-all' training metrics like generic heart-rate or power zones. Instead, Tymewear enables athletes to train against their own physiology by using breathing as the body's ultimate source of truth.

Research comparing threshold-based training against traditional methods has shown that personalised ventilatory training improves performance outcomes across all athletes tested, delivering more than double the fitness gains in many cases.

Arnar Larusson, CEO and Founder of Tymewear commented, "With the Tymewear VitalPro on the Wahoo head unit, cyclists can see exactly when they cross their ventilatory thresholds, live on the ride. Breathing is a source of truth riders around the world are using to train based on their unique physiology, and we're excited to put it in the hands of Wahoo's community."

Gareth Joyce, CEO of Wahoo, added, "At Wahoo, we're constantly focused on delivering meaningful innovation that enhances the riding experience for every athlete. Partnering with these innovative sensor brands reflects our commitment to listen to our customers and continuously evolve the ELEMNT ecosystem through meaningful software updates. By bringing next-generation performance metrics directly to riders' screens, we're giving Wahooligans even more ways to train smarter and ride further."

The updated firmware is available to all existing and future Wahoo ELEMNT V3 bike computer users.

Synthesizes 15 cross-sectional studies (5,312 participants), 3 RCTs (135 participants), and a meta-analysis of 42 trials (1,544 individuals). Reports 0% non-responders with threshold-based prescription vs. 31–58% with peak-effort methods, and VO₂peak gain of 4.1 vs. 1.8 mL/kg/min in the meta-analysis (2.3× ratio).
