Join Giant Group, Zwift and World Bicycle Relief to celebrate cycling May 11-17
Giant Group, the parent company of Giant, Liv, Momentum, and CADEX, today announced the return of its annual Ride Like King event—now in its 18th year and carrying profound new meaning following the passing of Giant Group founder King Liu (1934–2026) earlier this year. Presented in partnership with Zwift and World Bicycle Relief (WBR), RLK18 marks a historic milestone: the first global Ride Like King event held in Mr. Liu’s memory.
This year's theme—Ride the Legacy. Ride Like King—reflects a collective commitment to carry forward King Liu's lifelong belief that cycling has the power to change the world for the better. RLK18 evolves from an annual cycling celebration into a global movement, honoring Mr. Liu’s vision of a healthier, happier, and more sustainable future through cycling.
“Ride Like King began as a tribute to one man's passion for cycling, and today it belongs to riders everywhere," said Phoebe Liu, Giant Group CEO. “This year, every ride is a tribute to King's vision—of health, happiness, and a better world. We invite cyclists across the globe to join us in continuing his legacy.”
MAKING IT MATTER
RLK18 will feature warm-up rides on Zwift from May 11–14, followed by three days of "Legacy Rides" May 15–17. Outdoor community rides—led by Giant and Liv dealers, ambassadors, and local teams around the world—will take place concurrently across major cities globally, with Giant Group's global headquarters in Taiwan serving as the symbolic heart of the event.
Ride Like King continues to bring together cycling communities worldwide, with social impact initiatives forming an important part of the broader movement.
Participants can honor King’s legacy and help Giant Group donate one bike for every 500km ridden collectively—either on Zwift or outdoor rides logged through the campaign hub—up to 463,500km. Reaching that distance will achieve the goal of donating 927 Buffalo Bicycles through the World Bicycle Relief program, a number honoring King’s 927km ride around Taiwan in 2007 that inspired the Ride Like King movement.
“King Liu believed deeply in the power of bicycles to transform lives, and that belief is one we share at World Bicycle Relief,” said Kelly Marburger, Executive Director of Marketing & Communications at World Bicycle Relief. “Through our longstanding partnership with Giant Group, his legacy lives on in every Buffalo Bicycle delivered and every opportunity unlocked. We’re proud to honor him by continuing this work together.”
ZWIFT RLK18 RIDES
Zwift will host warm-up rides May 11–14, with Legacy Rides running May 15–17. Participants will be assigned RLK18 kits and can unlock them upon completing a ride.
Limited-edition RLK18 jerseys will be available to win during the Legacy Ride main events.
“Zwift is proud to bring cyclists together from across the world for Ride Like King,” said Eric Min, CEO and Co-founder of Zwift. “Ride Like King has always been about more than cycling—it's about community, purpose, and impact, and I look forward to seeing the Zwift community celebrate King Liu’s memory.”
“WHY I RIDE” SOCIAL CAMPAIGN
RLK18 will be accompanied by a global social media campaign inviting cyclists everywhere to share what cycling means to them personally, connecting back to King’s vision of cycling as a path to health, happiness, and sustainability. Riders, athletes, ambassadors, and influencers are encouraged to share their stories using the hashtags #RideTheLegacy and #RideLikeKing.
WORLD BICYCLE RELIEF
World Bicycle Relief provides specially designed Buffalo Bicycles—manufactured by Giant
Group and assembled by local teams—to students, healthcare workers, and entrepreneurs
in rural regions where distance is a barrier to opportunity. To date, the organization has
delivered over 1 million bicycles worldwide.
