Irvine, CA (February 28, 2025) – Bicycle retailers looking to strengthen their businesses in 2025 found valuable insights at the NBDA P2 Workshops held at CABDA East and CABDA Midwest.

These full-day sessions brought together retailers from across the country to tackle challenges  in profitability, inventory management, marketing, and supplier relationships, providing actionable strategies to drive success.

"The P2 Workshops at CABDA East and Midwest were truly incredible. The number of retailers who joined us was inspiring, and the engagement in every session proved just how dedicated they are to improving their businesses. We covered critical topics—from financial strategies to service center efficiencies—and the tangible takeaways retailers brought back to their shops will have an immediate impact. Seeing these workshops directly contribute to retailer success is exactly why we do this, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback makes it all the more rewarding." – Heather Mason, NBDA President

Discussions focused on service department profitability, financial planning, and marketing execution, with retailers working through real-world solutions to increase margins, improve cash flow, and create structured annual marketing plans. Attendees also explored strategies to optimize inventory, reduce overstock, and align product selection with demand, while supplier-focused sessions provided guidance on negotiating better terms and leveraging vendor support.

With the rapid growth of e-bike sales, retailers shared best practices on customer engagement, demo programs, and using local infrastructure to fuel demand. By the end of the workshops, participants had clear action plans to refine pricing, enhance service operations, and improve overall business performance.

“We learned so much—so many takeaways and easy, low-hanging fruit to implement when we get back home. Thank you so much for hosting the P2!” said Dave Blodgett of Lake Gaston Outfitters. Many retailers expressed interest in continuing their progress by joining an NBDA P2 Group.

These groups are a peer-to-peer network providing year-round strategy, benchmarking, and accountability. Retailers are placed in non-competing groups to ensure open and honest discussions in monthly virtual meetings and two annual in person meetings. The program currently includes seven groups, including a multi-location group, an e-bike-focused group, and a Canadian group.
