New Ecommerce Program Offers Refurbished Bikes at Accessible Discounts

NEW YORK (October 15, 2024) – Brompton, the global legacy manufacturer of the iconic folding bike and certified B Corp, today announces a new extension of its ecommerce platform to North America: Brompton Renewed. Designed to fulfill Brompton's sustainability mission, Brompton Renewed is a new retail waste reduction program that will sell refurbished and lightly-used bikes at a discount of up to 20% off MSRP with some models under $1,000. All bikes sold will still abide by Brompton's high standards for quality and performance and will come with the brand's signature 7-year frame warranty.

The bike industry is grappling with a serious global waste crisis. Manufacturers globally have been over-producing millions of bicycles each month, resulting in graveyards overflowing with hundreds of thousands of both broken and unused bikes. Brompton is committed to exploring solutions that address these long-term challenges, and this initiative represents a crucial, proactive avenue of innovation. Since the company's debut 50 years ago, Brompton has always been committed to using its business as a force for good, enabling urban freedom through innovative design. With this launch, Brompton reduces the economic barriers to entry for bike ownership while simultaneously reducing return waste. In 2023 the company achieved its B Corp status, joining a community of like-minded organizations that aim to balance profit with doing the right thing for people and the planet.

"This launch comes at a critical inflection point in consumer culture where the awareness about how our purchases impact the planet has never been higher or more clear. At Brompton, we want every customer to know that we are committed to extending the life cycle of our high-quality, handmade products, while we continually look at how and where we can reduce waste through all of our practices - from manufacturing to marketing to retail," says Juliet Scott Croxford, President of Brompton North America.

Customers will be able to shop Brompton Renewed's assortment of refurbished bikes online at https://us.brompton.com/renewed, and a small assortment at Brompton's New York City and Washington DC stores, as of 10/15/24 and can anticipate updated product drops on a rolling basis.
