Northvale, NJ - July 18, 2023 Jamis Bikes, a renowned leader in eco-friendly and innovative bicycle design, is thrilled to announce its involvement with an extraordinary endeavor that combines music, sustainability, and audience participation at the iconic Newport Folk Festival taking place July 28-30 in beautiful Newport, RI.

Jamis Bikes will provide a fleet of Explorer® Series bicycles to power a stage through the pedaling efforts of festival attendees. This groundbreaking collaboration aims to showcase the potential of renewable energy sources while creating an immersive and memorable experience for festival-goers.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with Illiterate Light for this trailblazing project," said Dave Rosen of Jamis Bikes. "By harnessing the energy of the festival-goers, we aim to inspire a sense of camaraderie and create a truly immersive musical experience. Together, we can demonstrate the power of renewable energy and the impact of collective action in shaping a sustainable future."

As part of this innovative initiative, Jamis Bikes will provide the fleet of bicycles which will attach to pedal-powered generators supplied by Rock-The-Bike. These generators are capable of converting kinetic energy generated by pedaling into a sustainable power source for the stage. Festival attendees will have the unique opportunity to participate in this electrifying experience by pedaling the Jamis Explorers, which, combined with supplemental solar energy, will power the stage and all performances that unfold upon it.

Throughout the festival, the Jamis-bike-powered stage will feature a dynamic and interactive setup not to mention a killer lineup of artist performances and a set dedicated to honor the legacy of legendary folk singer and pioneer Pete Seeger, titled, “For Pete’s Sake”.

As of date of release the list of performers who will occupy the bike-powered stage at the Newport Folk Festival is as follows:
