Irvine, CA: The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) and HLC are pleased to announce the retailers whose events have been awarded to receive funding and organizational assistance as part of the Buy Where You Ride Retailer Event Fund. 32 thoughtfully organized and inclusive retailer events will receive assistance that includes funding, promotional product, and other support based on retailers’ specific needs.

“It is with distinct pleasure that we award 32 unique retailer events for 2023. We put tremendous value on the importance of supporting local dealers and their community events, and we hope that by combining our resources, we can do more to help retailers at a local level,” stated HLC CEO Patrick McGinnis.

Retailers submitted applications earlier this year to be considered for the fund. Those events awarded include Grand Openings, Kids-Focused Events, Organized Charity Rides, and Community-Centered Social Experiences

“We are super excited that our store's event is one of 32 to receive support by the 'Buy Where You Ride Retailer Fund'. Our July 23rd event, 'Such Thing As A Free Ride', is an event that will allow anyone, no matter ability or financial status, to participate in a fully supported ride that will be 100% free. Funding from the BWYR Retailer Fund will raise the bar on producing a world class event for all participants. Thanks again BWYR!”- John Raub, 2 Rivers Bicycle

Clever Cycles’ Eva Frazier added, “As a bike shop dedicated to the everyday rider, we're excited for the recognition and support from the NBDA, HLC, and Buy Where You Ride. We truly believe that bicycles can change our cities for the better, which is why community outreach and support is important to us, whether or not it puts dollars in our bank account. With the help of this grant, we're creating a monthly streetside workshop to provide free bike repair on the sidewalk a half mile west of our retail location. There we'll provide free simple repairs, advice, and high fives to passing rider.”

The Buy Where You Ride Retailer Event Fund was created to direct resources to aid in the planning and execution of retailer events across North America. The program was designed to highlight the positive benefits that a retailer can expect from strong relationships with associations, distributors, and brands – which ultimately will have a direct positive impact on a retailer’s business and community.  HLC and NBDA have pledged to continue to grow the program in years forward.

“Bingham Cyclery is very excited to be able to serve the Park City community through our signature sales and service. By being chosen as a recipient of the 2023 Buy Where You Ride Retailer Event Fund, we will be able to more effectively advertise our Grand Opening event to increase attendance, improve the reach of our own marketing initiatives, and bring more awareness to the many great trails and community organizations who will be on site,” commented Angela Wright, owner of Bingham Cyclery in Utah.

The Buy Where You Ride Retailer Event Fund is one of many programs spearheaded by the NBDA in the pursuit of strengthening the specialty bicycle retailer and leading bicycle retail to excellence. The 2023 program is made possible by generous support from sponsors HLC and SRAM

“The impact of this program is measurable. Events are an important part of engaging ridership while keeping customers supporting their local retailer. We envision our united support making it easier for retailers to continue to direct resources to building community,” commented NBDA President Heather Mason.
