Incline Village, Nev. — The Confluence of States, a coalition of 16 states with government offices dedicated to growing opportunities for outdoor recreation and the outdoor recreation economy, will host an annual conference alongside Outdoor Media Summit for the second year, thanks to support from REI Co-op, The VF Foundation, Outdoor Industry Association, and Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. Both conferences will be held October 30 through November 1, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort and Spa in Incline Village, Nevada.

Co-locating these two conferences will allow visionary state outdoor recreation leaders to come together with top outdoor brands and media to brainstorm solutions to their toughest outdoor recreation-related challenges, and to explore other areas of collaboration in the future of recreation.

"Many of the most important conversations related to outdoor recreation and protecting public areas happen at the state level," said Colin Robertson, administrator of the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation and 2022 chair of the Confluence of States. "Partnering with Outdoor Media Summit gives state leaders the opportunity to shape and share messages with influential media from all over the country."

On Day 3 of Outdoor Media Summit, state leaders will host roundtable discussions with media and brand attendees to help problem-solve some of the most pressing priorities and challenges for each state’s Outdoor Recreation office. At the end of the session, leaders will share their table's solutions to the group at large.

“Outdoor recreation is the lifeblood for communities across the country, providing essential economic, public health, and conservation benefits,” said Tom Bugert, state and local government affairs manager, REI. “States with offices of outdoor recreation have champions who fight everyday to protect the places we love and ensure that all communities can benefit from time outside.”

ABOUT CONFLUENCE OF STATES
The Confluence of States coalition is a bipartisan alliance of state offices of outdoor recreation bringing outdoor recreation to the policy table. In January of 2018, the Confluence Accords were drafted, a document that formally launched the Confluence of States coalition. By signing on to the Confluence Accords, states cement their reputations as champions of a healthy outdoor recreation economy and join a vibrant group of peers working to advance this mission. The Coalition offers networking, professional development, funding guidance, annual summits and more to its members.
