BOULDER, COLO (Nov. 15, 2021) — After more than 17 years overseeing the financial operations of both the PeopleForBikes Coalition and Foundation, beloved staff member Erik Esborg announced he will be stepping down from his role as the organization’s vice president of finance next year.

“It has been a fantastic and rewarding experience to be a part of the organization's evolution for the last 17 years, and I am blessed and grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role for such a long period of time,” said Esborg. “In my departure, my confidence in our financial resources, current leadership and passionate team is higher than ever. Paired with the dedication of our Coalition and Foundation Boards and our engaged subcommittees, the future of PeopleForBikes is bright. It is precisely given this confidence that I feel comfortable stepping down from my role as I craft my next chapter.”

Esborg’s last day at PeopleForBikes will be January 31, 2022. To ensure a smooth transition of all fiduciary responsibilities, policies and procedures, he will be assisting in the onboarding process for his successor. Following his departure, Esborg aims to find a new opportunity within the outdoor industry that has been a part of his life dating back to when he first started managing the finances for the International Mountain Bicycling Association in 1999.

“Erik has been a 20-year colleague and friend. In fact, Erik and our previous CEO Tim Blumenthal hired me at IMBA and we’ve tackled many big initiatives and challenges together — and had quite a few fun adventures along the way,” said PeopleForBikes CEO Jenn Dice. “Erik was one of the first employees of PeopleForBikes, then known as Bikes Belong, when the organization moved to Boulder almost 20 years ago. He should be so proud of helping guide and grow the organization into the successful national bicycling advocacy nonprofit and industry trade association it is today. Erik is truly the best.”
