Popular Bikes and Accessories Trade-In Weekend Will Benefit Local Charity

ASHEVILLE, NC -- Motion Makers Bicycle Shop's third annual trade-in weekend is sure to have a sweet finish: in addition to donating bikes to the local non-profit organization The Bicycle Thrift Shop, the popular local bike shop has partnered with The Hop Ice Cream Café to support the event with social shout outs and valuable coupons throughout the weekend.

In partnership with Trade-In Promotions, the Motion Makers trade-in weekend will be held March 19-21, from 10 am – 5 pm and feature a special store opening on Sunday the 21st from noon to 4pm. Held at Motion Makers Asheville store located at 878 Brevard Road, customers will earn gift cards for trade-ins of any bikes and bike accessories they bring in. More information is at www.motionmakers.com and www.thetradeinguys.com/bike/.

"Old or new and in just about any condition, we can accept a wide variety of bikes and accessories and give great value as trade-ins, said Kent Cranford, owner of Motion Makers. "This event has become more popular every year because we invite the community to get rid of old, unused bikes and gear and get store credit. To give back, this year we are adding important community partners."

Adventure Kids WNC provides mountain bike outings, at no cost to local youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity. To learn more, visit their website: http://thebicyclethriftshop.com/bike-club-partnership/.

"We expect to donate at least 25 bikes to Adventure Kids and it could be more especially thanks to the support of everyone at The Hop," said Cranford. "Whether it's that old bike gathering dust the garage or time to get a better bike out of a newer bike, this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in supporting local cycling and helping local youth."

Motion Makers is also supporting The Hop Ice Cream Cafe's weekly reading program by donating an ideal book for the week of the event, "The Red Bicycle: The Extraordinary Story of One Ordinary Bicycle", the story of how a donated bike can have a positive impact on people's lives. "This is the third year of this popular event because as cliché as it sounds it's truly a win-win-win for everyone involved and especially the community," said Cranford.
